Electrical Properties of Ice.

Abstract

Inorganic ionic solutes are classified according to the type of interference they exert on electrochemical freezing potentials when associated with other ions. The partition of impurities at a dynamic ice/water interface is, as a rule, strongly concentration dependent. Distribution coefficients may increase or decrease as the concentration on the liquid side of the phase boundary increases. A mathematical (numerical) model is proposed for the description of this process. (Author)
