Guide to Defining and Solving Waiting Line Problems: Volume I, Procedures.

Abstract

The report is designed to present techniques for the solutions of queueing problems in a form for use by the nonmathematician. It is believed that effective use of these techniques will provide considerable savings in those job areas where waiting time is a costly factor. The guide consists of a series of questions that may be directed toward any queueing problem at hand. The answers to these questions will lead the reader in the direction of a solution or resolution of a problem. The mathematics beyond arithmetic normally required by such problems has been reduced to graphical form. These graphs can be used for most values encountered in a common queueing problem. (Author)
