Boundary Layer Investigation in the Impingement Area of Rocket Engine Blast.

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation was to: Study the boundary layer when rocket exhaust gases discharge in open air and impinge on variously shaped surfaces. Determine the feasibility of controlling the blast effects by using a boundary layer of ambient air to prevent excessive heat transfer from the exhaust gas to the surface of the blast-control medium.
