The Perturbation of the Stratosphere and Its Possible Origins,

Abstract

On the basis of an analysis of about 15,000 high altitide meteorological maps the authors computed an index characterizing the degree of disturbance of zonal flow, the mean velocity of meridional (SIC) transfer AA particular level and at a particular latitude, as well as the number and intensity of pressure formations at a fixed latitude. The article gives the mean monthly values of this index at four stratospheric levels.
