Scattering of Electromagnetic Radiation by Apertures: II. Oblique Incidence on the Slotted Plane for Parallel Polarization,

Abstract

The report is the second in a series of investigations into the diffraction of electromagnetic radiation by apertures in conducting screens. Herein is presented a technique for obtaining the fields everywhere for plane electromagnetic radiation incident obliquely on a slotted conducting plane. The case studied is that in which the incident electric field is linearly polarized parallel to the slot axis. Numerical solution for the scattering cross-section and the angular distribution for arbitrary incidence direction and for a large rang of values of the ratio of slot width to incident wavelength are presented in this work. Comparison with results obtained earlier by others show the newer results to be in excellent agreement. (Author)
