Final Report.
Abstract
The report summarizes theoretical and empirical research on problems in psychophysics, perception, memory, and reaction time. The psychological work encompasses both discrimination and scaling experiments on problems of auditory localization, visual depth perception, utility measurement, and multidimensional auditory scaling. Perceptual research includes topics of three dimensional visual organization, dynamic judgments of visual movement, and perceptual components of auditory localization. Studies in human memory are described that elucidate short-term retention in psychophysics and the role of perceptual memory in illusions. Studies in reaction time use animal subjects to develop procedures and techniques are then translated into experiments with people to study the mechanisms of response organization. (Author)
