Kinetics of Synthesis and Decomposition Reactions of Ionic Compounds Containing N-F Cations.

Abstract

Kinetic studies indicate that NF4AsF6 decomposes via an equilibrium dissociation NF4AsF6 = NF5 + AsF5 followed by a rapid fractional order reaction: NF5 = NF3 + F2. Attempts to identify NF5 in the decomposition products were inconclusive. Also discussed but very briefly are results on the reaction of bromine dioxide (probably containing some BrO3) with O2F2, as well as the preparation of NH3FCl04 from N-fluoriosopropyl carbamate and perchloric acid.
