Abstract

Chapter 1 presents methods for obtaining minimum risk estimators with various loss functions and restrictions on the class of estimators. The results are applied to estimation using order statistics from a class of invariant distributions and to estimation by graphical procedures. Tables for minimum risk estimators of the Weibull reciprocal-shape parameter that use only the optimum two order statistics are given for sample sizes of 25 or less. These tables are also useful for censored data. In Chapter 2 properties of increasing hazard rate average (IHRA) functions are discovered. It is shown that the IHRA property is preserved for order statistics. (Author)
