The Ultimization of the Evolution of Long Waves for the Forecasting of the Air Temperature by Seasons,

Abstract

An analysis of the evolution of seasonal pressure waves in the northern hemisphere, and its qualitative evaluation supported by a complex of circulation indices, provides a method of the seasonal forecasting of the anomalies of the air temperature throughout the USSR by calendar months based on the assumption that the seasonal type of circulation is held stably over a period of three months. Typical maps of the anomalies of temperature for the various climatic macroprocesses and for certain intra-seasonal variants were used. (Author)
