Fluidic Strain Gage Concepts,

Abstract

The need to measure elongation, strain, stress and deformation without resorting to electronic devices has given rise to the development of a fluidic strain gage. The principle of operation of the fluidic strain gage is the same as for its electronic counterpart, namely the change in resistance with change in length. Four generic active devices which cover, in general, the whole field are described.
