Pyrotechnic Separation Device.

Abstract

The report covers the redesign, fabrication, and testing of pyrotechnic separation devices originally developed under a previous contract. Results indicate that a reliable pyrotechnic separation device can be fabricated which is insensitive to spin, wobble, or tumble, and provides a positively known separation time. Redesign efforts to improve pyrotechnic separation device performance in the areas of premature release and primer functioning are described. The efforts reported were terminated prior to completion by cancellation of the non-nuclear missile warhead program.
