Life History and Ecology of the Franciscana, 'Pontoporia blainvillei' (Cetacea) in Uruguay.

Abstract

Marine mammals were observed from December 17, 1970 to May 31, 1971 and from June 20, 1971 to August 19, 1971 off the seacoast from Punta del Diablo, Uruguay. The franciscana, Pontoporia blainvillei, were collected in 209 specimens. Skulls were collected from 125 specimens, stomach contents and parasite data were collected from 155 dolphins, and gonads were collected from 180 specimens. (Author)
