Calculation of the Probability of Meeting Operational Time Constraints with Maintenance Time Allowed.

Abstract

The paper establishes the usefulness of a method for calculating the probability of meeting an operational time requirement with maintenance time allowed. An analytical method of calculating this probability is given for a system in which all subsystems are shut off whenever one subsystem fails. The model is capable of handling an arbitrary number of subsystems and require only that the failure and repair distribution of each of the sybsystems be known. An example problem is given to illustrate the use of the method, and areas are suggested for further research into related situations. (Author)
