Design, Construction, and Verification of an Experimental Apparatus to Approximate an Assembly Line Inspection Task.

Abstract

An experimental apparatus which approximates an assembly line inspection task was designed, constructed, and verified by the writer. The device can be used successfully in industrial research which required such simulation. The device is a track and conveyor system built into an inspection table. The inspection device accomodates small printed circuits as the products to be inspected. Conveyor speed, response button delay time, viewing area, and task complexity can all be varied by simple set-up adjustments. The device is also provisioned for feedback to the subject if desired by the researcher.
