A Generalized Procedure for Evaluation of Maintenance Aids.

Abstract

The paper presents a generalized procedure for evaluation of maintenance aids, equipment which aids in system maintenance. The procedure considers criteria which should be evaluated before deciding to accept or reject any maintenance aid. The most prominent criterion is cost, to which a complete and general model is devoted, based upon present worth life-cycle cost and results in a total cost for each alternative. An example evaluation is presented to illustrate the procedure developed. The procedure is intended for use in government contracting or industrial decision making.
