A Method for Estimating the Cost of Accidents at Army Materiel Command Installations.

Abstract

Reductions in the costs of accidents can be an important part of any safety program. The paper contains a method which will enable a safety director to estimate the true cost of accidents involving civilian employees at Army Materiel Command installations. Procedures are given for gathering, analyzing, and calculating both direct and indirect cost averages for nondisabling injuries, disabling nonfatal injuries, fatalities, and property damage accidents. The method used is based in part on research and a present method used by the Department of the Army.
