Problems and Principles Involved in Achieving an Effective Maintainability Organization,

Abstract

Research in the area of maintainability organization, including characteristics of and problems faced by maintainability organizations, is presented. Such topics as structure, responsibility, authority, personnel, and coordination are included in this paper. Data for this topic was obtained from industry and various texts on organization to provide numerous viewpoints. The material furnished in this study has a twofold purpose: first, to emphasize the importance of organization for the maintainability function; and second, to establish criteria for assuring the effectiveness of the maintainability organization.
