A Procedure for the Selection of Vibration Test Equipment,
Abstract
The purpose of the report is to present some guidelines, and the qualifying conditions of the guidelines, so that equipment can be selected for a vibration test laboratory in an optimal manner. The basic theory of vibration is presented so that both the mode of test vibration and the measurable quantities, or parameters, can be defined. The desired characteristics that a vibration machine should exhibit for a particular type of test are discussed, and then the types of machines that contain these characteristics are presented. The sensing elements and the recording equipment are presented in a similar method. First, the desired characteristics, as defined by the test mode and vibration machine, are presented and then the types of equipment that exhibit these features are discussed. (Author)
