Sequential Testing for Availability.

Abstract

The requirement for high availability in modern systems has demanded techniques for the determination of availability. A sequential testing method is proposed as a possible solution to this measurement problem. This proposed test is based upon Abraham Wald's sequential probability ratio method. The theory necessary for the development of an availability sequential probability ratio test is given. Examples are used to demonstrate the operation of the test. A Monte-Carlo simulation is also performed as a final demonstration of the SPR method. The ASN and OC functions are shown. (Author)
