Distribution and Composition of Suspended Matter in Seas and Oceans (Raspredelenie i Sostav Vzveshennogo Materiala v Moryakh i Okeanakh),

Abstract

By using data of previous investigations and comparing them with later studies, the author presents a systematic review of suspended matter in seas and oceans. The investigations cover inland seas, such as Caspian, Black and other Seas, marginal seas, such as Bering, Okhotsk, etc., and all the oceans. Thus, the local peculiarities, depending upon the continental runoff, wind action, coastal abrasion and other factors, are singled out. Connection between suspended matter and coastal types, the rate of sediment transport and sedimentation process in coastal and pelagic regions, of seas and oceans, are presented on charts in tables and graphs.
