Maintainability Program Plan for the United States Post Office Department.
Abstract
The function of a maintainability program in the United States Post Office Department is to aid in the reduction of downtime and maintenance; this in turn decreases operating cost and increases the efficiency of the system. The several steps needed to implement a maintainability program are set forth and explained in this report. Some of the major steps are specifying performance and maintainability requirements, allocating maintainability parameters, organizing a data collection system, performing trade-offs, maintainability prediction studies and a maintainability demonstration; finally a short discussion of life cycle costing is presented.
