Multiaxial Behavior of ATJ-S Graphite.

Abstract

An experimental program to explore the fracture and stress-strain behavior of ATJ-S graphite under uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial stresses is described. The program included the development of triaxial test techniques based on simultaneous pressurization and axial loading of solid and hollow cylindrical specimens. The experimental results include biaxial data obtained by simultaneous internal pressurization and axial loading of hollow cylindrical specimens at room temperature and 2000F; uniaxial tensile and compressive data obtained at room temperature in the with-grain and across-grain directions, and also at some off-axis angles; strains measured during hydrostatic pressurization to 20,000 psi at room temperatures; and triaxial data obtained by simultaneous external pressurization and axial loading of solid cylindrical specimens at room temperature.
