Study of the Hydrodynamics of the Eye by a Method of Vacuum-Compression,

Abstract

The results of the study carried out on the hydrodynamics of the eye with the help of the method of vacuum compression after Ericson in 102 eyes (35 healthy eyes, 36 eyes with suspected glaucoma, and 31 eyes with glaucoma). The results obtained were evaluated according to the increase in the percentage of pressure fall (PPF) and enlargement of eye volume, taking place during 15 min. According to the data obtained PPF in healthy eyes was equal, at the average, to 9.9 plus or minus 0.6 mm (superscript 3). In the group consisting of glaucomatous eyes the mean value of the enlargement of eye volume equaled to 5.0 plus or minus 0.5 mm (superscript 3) with extreme variations from 1.2 to 10.7 mm. (Author)
