A Device for Discharging a Beam of Accelerated Particles,

Abstract

The device for discharging a beam of accelerated particles of high intensity and low cross section from one medium into another, and which contains a hollow conical drum hinged to the accelerator end pipe, is distinguished by the fact that, in order to retain the beam dimension and reduce foil heating the discharge windows are made in the form of slits located about the perimeter of the bottom of the hollow drum on bearings and connected to the vacuum chamber by a sealed line; the axis of rotation of the drum is tilted relative to the beam direction.
