Criteria for Evaluating the Applicability of Composite Material Shafts to Helicopter Drive Systems.

Abstract

Criteria are developed for determining the suitability of applying composite materials to helicopter synchronizing drive shafts. A DISCUSSION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND POWER TRANSMISSION SHAFTING IS GIVEN. The factors involved in making an economic decision are considered and suggestion for their evaluation is made.
