Evaluation of a 16-Cu-Ft. Laboratory Concrete Mixer,

Abstract

Tests in accordance with the Corps of Engineers 'Method of Test for Concrete Mixer Performance' (CRD-C 55) were made on a new 16-cu-ft-capacity, laboratory, tilting concrete mixer to determine its suitability for mixing concrete containing aggregate up to 6 in. in size, and structural concrete of high cement content. Three mixtures with aggregates graded up to 6 in., 3 in., and 3/8 in., respectively, were used in the evaluation. Each mixture was evaluated individually. Results indicated that the mixer would blend the constituents into a uniform mixture if the charging and mixing procedures developed in this investigation are used for each type of mixture. (Author)
