Borehole Television Examination Meramec Park Reservoir, Meramec River, Missouri,

Abstract

The investigation described in the report was conducted to provide information concerning the in situ nature of the fractured bedrock in location of the outlet works tunnel for the proposed Meramec Park Reservoir. The information contained herein is intended to supplement the geologist's logs of core borings, furnishing detailed information upon which a decision can be made as to the method of construction of the tunnel. The examination was conducted in core borings in the dolomite bedrock in the right abutment area of the proposed dam, located six miles southeast of Sullivan, Missouri. Three borings that penetrated through the tunnel zone were examined to determine if the individual fragments of the fractured dolomite were interlocked to form a competent mass or if the material was badly distressed. The walls of the borings contained numerous fractured zones. The fractures were for the most part reasonably tight, although many appeared to have been attacked by solution action.
