Guidance and Control Displays.

Abstract

The Guidance and Control Panel of AGARD held as its 13th Meeting a Symposium on 'Guidance and Control Displays' in Paris, France from 19 to 21 October 1971. The papers presented at that meeting are published here and constitute the proceedings of the meeting. The display of information in present day manned aerospace vehicles has resulted in extremely complex avionics systems. This complexity, in turn, has led to severe problems of maintenance, cost, reliability and training. It is a problem to be considered whether the vehicle be for military, civilian or space application. The meeting concentrated ondiscussing the various requirements for the display of information, techniques of display system design, current applications and future technological advances in methodology and materials. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for NATO scientists and planners, both military and civilian along with operational representatives of NATO forces to exchange information in display technology as it relates primarily to guidance and control systems and crew integration.
