The Study of Basal Dislocations in Sapphire.

Abstract

An analysis of the Burgers vectors of dislocations in sapphire, revealed by X-ray transmission topography, confirmed the existence of the Burgers vectors parallel to the <(2)(-1)(-1)(0)> directions. Experimental evidence for the magnitude of the Burgers vectors is given. Numerous dislocation reactions of the type <(2)(-1)(-1)(0)> + <(-1)(2)(-1)(0)> + <(-1)(-1)(2)(0)> = 0 are verified. (Author)
