A Two-Level Difference Scheme for Systems of Non-Linear Second Order Hyperbolic Differential Equations,

Abstract

The report describes and analyzes a difference scheme for the numerical solution of systems of non-linear second order totally hyperbolic differential equations. A special feature of the scheme is the variable time step which generally results in savings of computing time. The scheme is of fourth order and it satisfies von Neumann stability conditions. Formulas are derived for the estimation of the errors of the results. (Author)
