Marine Weather Dissemination Systems Study. Volume I. Executive Summary.

Abstract

Work performed during a study of Marine Weather Dissemination Systems is summarized. The study examined existing and planned systems for disseminating weather and other environmental information to marine users, and made objective, comparative measurements of the effectiveness of each of the systems. Based on these analyses, recommendations were made for changes which would improve the service to the marine user. The recommendations were addressed to the policies, facilities and procedures of the Coast Guard and other government and non-government agencies. Finally, guidelines were generated for future Coast Guard research and development efforts on advanced alerting and dissemination systems to serve recreational boatmen. (Author)
