Broad Band Accelerometers and Their Deployment for Seismic Studies

Abstract

The vertical accelerometers were used to make a six month (January to July 1971) data collection run which is being used to determine detection thresholds and azimuthal dependences. This run was made at a surface site at Camp Elliott, San Diego. The horizontal accelerometers were completed and placed in operation and data gathered simultaneously with the vertical accelerometers for several months at a surface site at Camp Elliott, San Diego. Both a vertical and horizontal were used in a mine test at 5300 and 6700 feet. The results showed that the major improvement came in the horizontal data which showed no diurnal effect as is seen in the surface data.
