Study of Chert Popouts, Wolf River Floodwall, Memphis, Tennessee. Report 2. Further Observations.

Abstract

A study of popout data obtained from eight panel surfaces selected on the Wolf River Floodwall, Memphis, Tenn., was started in 1959. The first report was published in 1961. Data for seven additional winters have now been examined. The additional study has provided observations on the kind of chert that forms popouts, development of popouts with age, enlargement of existing popouts with age, popout positions in the walls, and fracture angles of popouts.
