Cross-Rate Interference Study.

Abstract

The report summarizes the progress made, and accomplishments achieved during the four month study of Cross-Rate Interference as it affects the Loran- Navigation System performance. There are many proposed solutions to the problem which occur when one Loran-C chain interferes with another. These are judged from three viewpoints; is the performance improved, is the implementation economical, and are system concepts violated. Of those which are acceptable, a system based on an extra set of phase-coded sampling strobes strategically placed near the track strobes is highly recommended based on tests performed thus far. With very little change of the existing equipment, this system has been analyzed and tested and been found to yield effective cancellation of cross-rate interference. (Author)
