A Device for Spreading Tire Casings,

Abstract

A microfiche of the abstract contains graphic information. A tire bead spreader has fixed stops on either side of the splay levers so as to work with lever rollers and spread the levers into top and bottom positions. The return spring is coupled at the ends to the levers. With the tire on the rollers, the crossbar lowers so that the roller of the levers starts to free itself from the stop whereas levers spring off to contact the stops in the vertical position. When the rollers ride into the tire, the rollers meet the stops and thus as the crossbar descends the levers turn right around their axis and the grip rollers start to spread the tire beads. A screw controls the synchronism of the levers by means of the sloping face of the stops and the body, these moving in relation to each other for adjustment purposes. (Author)
