The Motor Method of Appraising the Influence of Additives on the Formation of Ash Deposits on the Exhaust Valves of Supercharged Engines,

Abstract

A method was worked out which makes possible evaluation of the effect of additives on the amount of deposits on the exhaust valves of forced engines over a period of 50 hrs. Using the aforementioned method the following additives are evaluated: BFK of various concentrations, KFK4 BFK-u, SB-3, and mixture of BFK and SB-3. A linear dependence between the concentration of additive BFK and the amount of deposits on valves is revealed. Absence of suppressing or synergetic action of the additive SB-3 during its use in the mixture with the additive BFK is shown according to the evaluating index. (Author)
