New Superconductors

Abstract

The report covers work on the study of possible high temperature superconductors. It describes theoretical work on filamentary organo-metallic materials - the conduction mechanism, band theory and screening; progress towards the synthesis of metallic chain compounds and related organo-metallic complexes, and experimental studies of their solid state properties. The research projects described include the following: Synthesis of a rhodium bis(diacetylmonoximeimino)propane compound; Synthesis of (metal-carbonyl) tin hydrides and (metal-carbonyl) di tin compounds; Synthesis of dodecamethyl cyclohexagermane and synthesis of precursors to tin polymers; Synthesis of Ir(CO)2(acetylacetonate), azulene acetylacetonate, and other iridium carbonyls.
