A Comparative Study of the Michigan Terminal System (MTS) with Other Time Sharing Systems for the IBM 360/67 Computer.

Abstract

The principle of benchmark measurement is applied to yet another time sharing system, theMichigan Terminal System (MTS), and thus complete the comparison of the three time sharing systems for the IBM 360/67 Computer. MTS is also evaluated from both a user's view and a performance view against the CP/67 and OS/MVT combination now in use at the Naval Postgraduate School. The concept of Load Factor and its use is expanded. Use of measurement techniques to determine load factors are discussed with extension of the load factor concept to measure system loads on a continuous basis. An Operator's Manual for MTS is presented to aid beginners in the operation of MTS. (Author)
