Human Factors in Field Testing

Abstract

The primary aim of the study has been the development and test of methods for evaluating operator performance during field test of complex man- machine systems. Recommendations are presented which are aimed at strengthening the human factors evaluation process in both the field evaluation and the development phases of a system. Recommendations are made based upon the test of a specific Naval aircraft system, the P-3C anti-submarine warfare system. These recommendations deal with measurement points, measurement scales, evaluation criteria and levels and conditions of test. The assignment and training of evaluation personnel is also considered.
