Interactions Among the Various Phenomena Involved in the Design of Dynamic and Rotary Machinery and Their Effects on Reliability. Volume I. Basic Report of Reduced Results and Utilization Thereof.

Abstract

The report continues the experimental research in material behavior. It contains descriptions of the calibration for the Wiedemann and Axial Fatigue Research Machines, the manufacture and inspection of specimens, the stress analysis of grooved specimens, the determination of economic optimum sample size for this research, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Goodness-of-Fit Test which was added, and a discussion of the Weibull Distribution and its Confidence Limits for future application to this research. Material Properties are published for all four steels used in the research, i.e., AISI 1018, 1038, 4130, and 4340. (Author)
