Rough Surfaces in Contact,

Abstract

The book presents the results of theoretical and experimental investigations of the contact between solids, taking into account their surface microgeometry. Various models of asperities on rough surfaces are considered, and the deformation of the contact area is calculated. A survey of the experimental techniques used to determine the characteristics of contact between machine parts is given. Computational procedures are given that can be used to calculate the real and contour areas of contact, rigidity of contact, volume of the air gap between surfaces, mean diameter of contact sports, etc. (Author)
