Self-Aligning Slide Bearings,

Abstract

The article contains a study of the method of planning and designing self adjusting slide bearings in which the minimum frictional moment of the bearing is insured along the shaft with maximum possible calculated radial load on the bearing. This is achieved by decreasing the angle alpha (half the angle of the hallow centering cone) to a value insuring self braking of the ball in which the slide bearing is executed. High accuracy of centering the ball is insured in this case. A brief description of the structural design of the bearings is presented. (Author)
