CCBS 10/50 Monitor Cataloguer,

Abstract

No means exist in the DEC 10/50 timesharing monitor for maintaining absolute control over peripheral system resources (i.e., demountable storage media). In order to guarantee the integrity of the system and provide security for its users, the following objectives have been formulated for a cataloguer function, monitor allocation of demountable, assignable peripheral storage devices, such as BECtape drives, magnetic tape drives, and nonsystem (private) disc drives, monitor surveillance of device status, where the monitor retains control until the device is ready, and monitor generation and maintenance of volume labels on DECtapes and magnetic tapes.
