Abstract

An experimental automatic theme-encoding system (TES) for sophisticated content analysis is now under development with the Center for Computer-based Behavioral Studies (CCBS). The document briefly characterizes the aims and methods of modern content analysis as a background for the discussion of the theme-encoding system. The main components of the system are described and related to one another as well as to crucial external components that combine with the theme-encoding system to form a comprehensive interactive content analysis system.
