A spill of 650,000 to 700,000 liter of No. 2 fuel oil on September 16, 1969 has contaminated the coastal areas of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. The chemical study is aimed at a documentation of the effects, the persistence and the eventual disappearance of the pollutant hydrocarbons in this area. The present report summarizes the chemical data which were available in November 1971. (Author)
