Gyrotheodolites

Abstract

An attempt to systematize the uncoordinated information in gyrotheodolites and methods of working with them is offered. In setting forth the principle of operation and the functional connections of the various gyrotheodolite system the physical processes taking place in the instrument are concentrated on. Together with the above the first chapter presents information on the theory of gyroscopes. Also discussed are gyrotheodolites in the research stage. Part of the book is devoted to measurements with gyrotheodolites, methods of appraising the quality of the work of the instrument and its errors. Considered are questions connected with automation of measurement, distant transmission of the results of measurements, and the possibility of constructing these instruments with aperiodic transitional processes and without introduction of a constant correction.
