The Storage Life of Fully Compounded Rubber Stocks: Part 1: Initial Studies.

Abstract

Three fully compounded unvulcanised natural rubber mixes differing only in carbon black content have been stored for periods of up to six months. The mixes have been injection and compression moulded and the properties of the cured materials compared. Instrumental and chemical methods have been examined as aids to indicate changes occurring in the stored mixes. Oven storage on natural rubber and neoprene stocks has also been carried out in an attempt to accelerate changes. (Author)
