On the Value of the Fano Algorithm in Establishing the Graphemic Form of Machine-Derived Phonetic String,

Abstract

The problem of establihsing the graphemic form of degenerate non-segmented phonetic strings is considered in the context of machine recognition of continuous speech. Syntax-controlled translation is formulated in terms of the heuristic development of a path through a finite directed graph determined by the conjunction of the sublanguage and possible segmentation errors of the acoustic analyzer.
