ATC Surveillance/Communication Analysis and Planning.

Abstract

The report describes activities in ATC Surveillance/Communication Analysis and Planning funded by the Federal Aviation Administration. It is the second Quarterly Technical Summary of this program, covering the period 1 December 1971 to 29 February 1972. The activities include analysis to determine the surveillance and communications performance required to support the monitoring of closely space parallel runways and to support Intermittent Positive Control. Other activities include efforts directed toward developing a preliminary set of requirements for use in design studies at Lincoln Laboratory. A study to determine data-link communications requirements has been initiated. Field measurement of ATCRBS transponder performance has been completed during the reporting period. (Author)
