The Electronic Absorption Spectrum of 1,5-Naphthyridine in the Vapor Phase.

Abstract

The absorption spectrum of 1,5-naphthyridine vapor for lambda > 2000 A is presented. A single P* from n system and three diffuse pi* from pi systems are observed. A vibrational analysis is given for the allowed singlet A(u)(npi*) from singlet A(g) electronic system, and a O-O band is assigned to 27,259/cm. In addition, a vibrational analysis is given for the allowed singlet B(u)(pi pi*) from singlet A(g) electronic system and its O-O band is assigned to 32,874/cm. The other two diffuse pi* from pi systems are discussed briefly. (Author)
